I’m legitimately interested in the engineering behind making it work.

I WAS THINKING ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE THIS THE OTHER DAY!!!!!! You have a bit of camber, but more tire actually planted on the ground. It’s perfect.

I have a feeling that these will wear out pretty fast.

Depends on the slip angle, I suppose. The tires will still want to turn inwards, so they will have to be toed out to compensate, but even then the rubber is still getting twisted when it meets the road.

I’m calling shenanigans. Something isn’t right...

The reason certain cars have negative camber is to allow for positive camber gain while turning. Surely this tire would still experience that resulting in the loss of tread percentage on the ground on the inside of the tyre.

As an engineer I will join you in calling shenanigans. I don’t see this working very well.

They’re basically allowing you to run less camber on the car, so that when you get it to an autocross you have the proper amount. For example, instead of running 4 degrees of camber, you run 2 degrees and the 2 degree tire. No idea if it actually works, but it sounds good in theory.

Will this wear out less quickly on my Mercedes?

I can’t see the performance gains of putting camber in the tire, vs in the suspension being outweighed by not running a tire that’s made by a reputable manufacture with years of experience and millions in R&D.

So this is for hellaflush bros? Because it basically undoes your camber alignment. When turning you’ll still be rolling on the outside edge of the tire

but a “camber tire” is essentially a conical shape. Try rolling a conical shape in a straight line without having any slipping/friction between the surfaces. I just think it would wear out quickly during straight line driving regardless of vehicle setup, whereas with a normal tire you can run camber and wear it out faster, or you can straighten it out and not wear it out.

Didn’t Matt Farah talk about these at some point? It was something along the lines that the guy kept bugging him about them. I think they were on some lancer video he did if I remember right.
